Article Schema

Article schema describes an article's headline, author, images, and dates in structured data so search engines can interpret that information.

Choose Article, NewsArticle, or BlogPosting to match the content. Identify the actual author and publication or modification dates. Put the author's name in author.name and a page identifying that author in author.url. Do not add credentials to the name or identify someone who did not write the article as its author.

Google's Article documentation recommends applicable properties without setting universal required properties. Discover does not require special tags or structured data. Valid Article markup alone is not evidence of Discover exposure or increased credibility.

Frequently asked questions

Does Article markup get a page into Discover?

No. Indexing and compliance with Discover policies do not guarantee inclusion. Use markup to describe the actual article accurately.
