Google Search Console

Google Search Console is a free tool for search performance and indexing diagnostics. Search-result interactions and on-site behavior are different measurements, so interpret Search Console separately from GA4.

Search performance can be examined by query, page, country and device. Some query data is withheld for privacy and other reasons; it is not a complete record of demand or individual visits.

Page indexing covers URLs Google knows about. URL Inspection provides indexed information and a live accessibility test, which are different states. Current Insights summarizes Search performance; the Mobile Usability report was retired in 2023.

The 2026 generative AI reports provide dedicated URL-impression views for AI features. Those impressions remain in overall performance and do not measure citation accuracy or causal sales impact.

For long-term analysis, consider Search Console’s own bulk BigQuery export, separate from GA4 export. Review data scope, anonymized queries and storage costs.
