Protocols, hosts, parameters, sorting and slashes can create variants. Compare actual content and user functions rather than treating URL shape alone as proof of duplication.
Use canonical signals when variants remain available, and consider permanent redirects for retired duplicates. Noindex excludes a page from search; it is not a replacement for canonical signal consolidation.
There is no universal priority order by duplicate type. Assess important pages, generated URL volume and crawl or reporting problems, then check Google’s selected canonical after implementation.
